Welcome to the first post of a brand new site dedicated to the genealogy and history of all things Litteral. \u00a0There’s not much here to look at at this point but I hope to grow it in the coming months and years.<\/p>\n
I have grand plans for it but being a Litteral, you know how that tends to work out. \u00a0I plan to begin soon with a post about the pioneer family of Litterals that first settled Eastern Kentucky at the dawning of the 19th century. I would like to add links for family genealogy as well as expand into a history of the surrounding area that is still home to\u00a0descendants\u00a0of the original family today. Finally it is important to note the rich history of the family as Luttrells in early America and back through the centuries in Ireland, England and Europe.<\/p>\n
The artwork on the top of the main page is from the Luttrell Psalter<\/a>, an illuminated book from Medeval England that has been invaluable at giving the world a glimpse of the 14th century. \u00a0Our Litteral ancestors that were farmers in Kentucky 400 years later probably did very little different than those farmers depicted in the scene, perhaps save for mules instead of fat oxen.<\/p>\n Please check back often.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Welcome to the first post of a brand new site dedicated to the genealogy and history of all things Litteral. \u00a0There’s not much here to look at at this point but I hope to grow it in the coming months … Continue reading
